Focusing on the 8 Functions
About Us

History of Type Makes A Difference

Type Makes A Difference, Inc. was originally founded as Type Resources, Inc. in 1987 and was dissolved in November, 2007. Gary and Margaret Hartzler are now operating the business in a "Doing Business As" (DBA) status.  Type Rescources, Inc. offered training courses on the use of the MBTI® and sold publications about the use of type in management, training, counseling, and for personal growth.

In 1996 we sold the logo, name, training and publications divisions to Effectiveness Enhancement, Inc.  We worked closely with Bob McAlpine, President and CEO of Effectiveness Enhancement, Inc. for several years.

Since 1996, we have been providing training and consulting services to specific clients, including Type Resources, 16Types.com, and Otto Kroeger and Associates in the United States, the Institute for Type Development in Australia, Iradat in Indonesia, and ProWay in China.

 Current Mission and Services

Our mission is to make Jungian psychological type theory clear and understandable, especially how to effectively incorporate the power of the 8 functions into professional type practices.  To do so, we conduct research, author books and exercises, publish notebooks, research and validate the Function Skills Development Assessment (published by 16Types.com), and provide training and consulting services.
